I am becoming more of a Notion Fanatic, and there is no stopping. In the last couple of months, I have gone through numerous articles, courses, and youtube videos, and it just amazed me that Notion is more of an ‘everything-tool’ than just an organizing hand. I am a person who likes to keep track of most things I do in a day, and if I miss even one thing on my list I do tend to feel uneasy. I have a job so I have to prioritize my work and make sure I still have time to practice my hobbies outside of work. Keeping a work-life balance was becoming a nightmare. My working hours would stretch since I could not close my work before completing it, I started sleeping very late as I didn’t want my life to revolve only around excel sheets so I watched shows and read a book till late. Now — because of sleeping at such odd hours I woke up tired, was low on energy for the entire first half, and exceeded deadlines.
Sounds like a nightmare? Yes, it was worse than that. It made me feel lethargic. I wanted to make time to cook my meal, meditate, journal, do my budgeting, take care of my room, list all activities, read a couple of pages, watch an episode of my favourite show, study a bit, etc. These may look like a ton of tasks, but if I do each of them even for half an hour, I feel a sense of accomplishment.
That’s when I sat down to create a personal space for myself in Notion. It helped me to plan my day, keep a track of time as well as my work. I could also journal, manage my habits for the day and note down my progress in shows and books. Here is how I did that.
- First is the landing page.
I use dark theme but it looks just as minimal in the light theme. Here made 2 Headers — To-Do List and Reflections. In my To-Do List, I write down all my miscellaneous goals for the month, I plan my entire week and also my day to day tasks. (I also added a planet theme clock it looks so pretty)
In my daily planner, I also added tags like wellness which means something I do for myself, my self-study hours, play sessions and school activities too. With these tags I can separately track how much of my time goes where. So that if most of my day is taken by school studies, I will adjust my tasks to incorporate meditation and reading activities too.
In my Reflections section, I added Journals and Habit trackers. Since journaling has always helped me with my overthinking and anxiety, it is something which I can accurately keep a track of.
I can track my weekly habits here. I also added 4 more sheets so that I can measure the habits for the duration of the month.
2. Next is my small corner
Small corner is what I call a section which I add to make it feel like home. In my small section I added a calendar. Right now there are not meetings/agendas shown but it will show me all my agendas for the entire month on the screen. I also added my 4 most visited sites here so that I don’t have to toggle every time, along with the weather widget and a cute picture in the middle.
3. Last is the life wiki section
I love watching anime and movies. I like to keep a track of the things I watch so that I can revisit those pages and remember what the art made me feel like. It goes the same for the books I read as well. In this section I added my lists like watchlist, anime list, reading list, my travel planner with the places that I want to go, my wishlist and etc.
I also added a budgeting table to manage my finances. I tend to spend in bundle and then forget where my money went. It helps me track where I am spending most of my money and how much do I currently have. Using Notion on a regular basis has made me more productive and fulfilled.
